Baseball Game Preview: Mt. Pleasant Tigers vs. Loretto Mustangs

Mt. Pleasant hasn't had much luck against Loretto recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Tigers will take on the Mustangs at 6:30 p.m. Mt. Pleasant will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.

Having struggled with five losses in a row, Mt. Pleasant turned things around against Culleoka on Thursday. They walked away with a 6-1 win over the Warriors.

Meanwhile, Loretto started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against Lawrence County. They came up short against the Wildcats on Saturday, falling 15-5. The Mustangs' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Casen Springer was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double. Loretto is 3-1 when Springer posts two or more runs, but 5-13 otherwise. Grayson Burleson was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three RBI and one stolen base.

Loretto's loss dropped their record down to 8-14. As for Mt. Pleasant, their victory bumped their record up to 8-13.

Mt. Pleasant suffered a grim 21-0 defeat to Loretto when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
