Sumner faced Emerald Ridge in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Spartans blew past the Jaguars 10-0. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won eight matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Sumner pushed their record up to 13-2 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average over those games. As for Emerald Ridge, with the defeat, they broke their six-game winning streak and moved their record to 14-3.

Sumner will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Jaguars: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
