After a string of five wins, Carver High School of Engineering & Science's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They were dealt a 73-43 loss at the hands of Academy at Palumbo. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Carver High School of Engineering & Science came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 79th, while Academy at Palumbo is ranked 561st).
Despite the loss, Carver High School of Engineering & Science saw an underclassman step up: Fareed Brown scored 22 points along with three steals. Brown scored a full 51.2% of Carver High School of Engineering & Science's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tali Simpkins, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Abington Friends' recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They were beaten by Malvern Prep 73-41.
Carver High School of Engineering & Science's defeat dropped their record down to 7-2. As for Abington Friends, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.
Carver High School of Engineering & Science suffered a grim 66-45 defeat to Abington Friends in their previous matchup back in December of 2017. Can Carver High School of Engineering & Science avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
