Preview: Morristown-Beard Crimson vs. Fieldston Eagles
Morristown-Beard has been on the road for two straight, but on Saturday they'll finally head home. They will take on The Fieldston Eagles at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
While it was all tied up 17-17 at halftime, Morristown-Beard was not quite Blair Academy's equal in the second half on Tuesday. Morristown-Beard fell to Blair Academy 36-31. While losing is never fun, Morristown-Beard can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey football rankings (they are ranked 274th, while Blair Academy is ranked 111th).
Meanwhile, Fieldston was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Saturday as they fell 10-6 to Hackley.
Despite their defeat, Fieldston saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Dexter Barton, who rushed for 54 yards and a touchdown on only six carries, was perhaps the best of all.
Morristown-Beard's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 5-4. The slump could be explained by some tough opposition over that stretch, namely Blair Academy, Poly Prep Country Day, and The Pingry School. As for Fieldston, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.
Morristown-Beard couldn't quite finish off Fieldston when the teams last played back in November of 2022 and fell 30-28. Thankfully for Morristown-Beard, Rowhan Daly (who threw for 275 yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
