San Marino is preparing for their first league matchup of the season on Thursday. They will head out on the road to take on the La Canada Spartans at 3:30 p.m. San Marino's pitching crew has only allowed 2.2 runs per game this season, so La Canada's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
San Marino made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Cerritos, but they still couldn't quite topple them. San Marino was the clear victors by an 8-1 margin over Cerritos on Monday. The Titans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by six runs or more this season.

JJ Wilson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with one stolen base and two RBI.
In other batting news, Jamie Bercaw and Miles Morning did most of the damage at the plate: Bercaw scored two runs while going 2-for-4, while Morning scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs Bercaw has posted since back in May of 2024. Aldo Cali was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.
San Marino was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cerritos only posted a batting average of .208.
Meanwhile, La Canada beat South Pasadena 11-8 on Monday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Spartans.
Like San Marino, La Canada also got a great game from a two-way player: Cash Carroll. Throwing, Carroll tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Ross Piken tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. At the plate, Carroll scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3, while Piken scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Will Park was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-5. He has become a key player for La Canada: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 0-6 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Parrille, who scored a run while going 1-for-1.
San Marino's record now sits at 8-2. As for La Canada, their record now sits at 3-6.
La Canada's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: San Marino has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .447. It's a different story for La Canada, though, as they've only averaged .360. Will they be able to contain San Marino's hitters?
San Marino came out on top in a nail-biter against La Canada in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, sneaking past 3-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for San Marino since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
