After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Buckingham, Cumberland was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out the Prince Edward County Eagles 3-2. The game was the first time the Dukes have beaten the Eagles on their field since April 18, 2019.
Brett Dalton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up six Ks.
At the plate, Ayden Brodie was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Cumberland's victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 2-9. As for Prince Edward County, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season.
