Basketball Recap: Pearl-Cohn's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Pearl-Cohn's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They snuck past the Sycamore War Eagles with a 65-59 win. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Firebirds as it put an end to their seven-game losing streak.

Javion Kinnard continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. Another player making a difference was LaDamion Hunter, who posted 14 points.

Pearl-Cohn smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in six consecutive contests.

Several War Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Lucas Morris, who went 8 for 19 en route to 21 points along with eight assists and eight boards. The dominant performance gave Morris a new career-high in assists. Carter Wallace was another key player, going 8 of 11 on his way to 16 points and five rebounds.

Pearl-Cohn's win bumped their record up to 4-7. As for Sycamore, they dropped their record down to 9-6 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pearl-Cohn will challenge Cheatham County Central at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Sycamore, they will square off against Creek Wood at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Sycamore is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.2 points per game this season.
