Soccer Game Preview: Hunt vs. Rocky Mount

The Hunt Warriors will head out on the road to square off against the Rocky Mount Gryphons at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Hunt has three straight wins, Rocky Mount has ten straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the pitch.

If Rocky Mount heads into halftime all tied up, they better play a good second half: that's when Hunt took over last week. The Warriors narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Northern Nash 2-1. That's two games straight that Hunt have won by just one goal.

Santiago Herrera and Mark Dixon scored both of Hunt's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 13 goals.

Meanwhile, Rocky Mount fell victim to Southern Nash and their airtight defense on Wednesday. They came up short against the Firebirds, falling 9-0. Merlin Gardin was hit with a yellow card, which may have had some impact on his (and the team's) ability to make aggressive plays.

Rocky Mount's defeat dropped their record down to 4-18. As for Hunt, the win got them back to even at 8-8-1.

Hunt took their victory against Rocky Mount when the teams last played on October 1st by a conclusive 12-4 score. In that match, the Warriors amassed a halftime lead of 5-2, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Monday.
