Softball Game Preview: University Prep Jaguars vs. Adelanto Saints

University Prep and Adelanto are an even 3-3 against one another since March of 2018, but likely not for long. The Jaguars will be playing at home against the Saints at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a four-game winning streak alive.

If University Prep beats Adelanto with seven runs on Monday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two matchups with that exact score. Everything went the Jaguars' way against Big Bear on Thursday as they made off with a 7-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Jaguars, who have now won 12 games by six runs or more so far this season.

Breezy (Briseis) Vargas spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Paityn Zimmerman was incredible, firing off two home runs and four RBI while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Juliette Torres was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Adelanto beat Victor Valley 9-5 on Friday.

Adelanto's victory bumped their record up to 14-8. As for University Prep, their win bumped their record up to 17-4.

Everything went University Prep's way against Adelanto in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, as University Prep made off with a 13-7 victory. Do the Jaguars have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Saints turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
