Football Recap: Dresden Comes Up Short at Home Against Trinity Christian Academy + How To Watch

Dresden unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of Trinity Christian Academy by a score of 21-19 on Friday. While Dresden had to settle for second, they closed the game well in the third quarter, where they outscored Trinity Christian Academy 7-0.

Dresden's loss came despite strong showings from Luke Dipietro and Bruce Willis. Dipietro rushed for 103 yards and two TDs, while Willis rushed for 64 yards on only seven carries.

Dresden didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Cooper Allman and Willis.

Trinity Christian Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Owen Atwood led the charge by throwing for 231 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.0 yards per attempt, and also rushing for 46 yards. Gabe Lee was Atwood's top target, picking up 87 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Looking ahead, Dresden will face off against McKenzie at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Trinity Christian Academy, they will take on Memphis Business Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
