Soccer Game Preview: Trinity Christian vs. Oakcrest

The Trinity Christian Gryphons will face off against the Oakcrest Chargers at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Oakcrest will be up against a hot Trinity Christian squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. The Gryphons never let Highland get on the board and left with a 3-0 win on Thursday. The final result isn't all the surprising considering Trinity Christian's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 12th, while Highland are ranked 68th).

Meanwhile, Oakcrest had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3 goals) and they went ahead and made it four last Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Tempest as they made off with a 5-0 victory. That five goal margin sets a new team best for Oakcrest this season.

They hit Trinity at Meadow View with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Ana Marie Diaz-Bonilla (2), Clare Sypal, Amal Mohammed, and Emily Mochen.

Oakcrest's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-3-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 15 goals over those three contests. As for Trinity Christian, their win bumped their record up to 8-0-2.
