Football Recap: Dobie Comes Up Short

Dobie had lost three straight at home, but on Thursday they dropped down to 2-3 to make it four. They lost 47-24 to the Shadow Creek Sharks. While losing is never fun, the Longhorns can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 395th, while the Sharks are ranked 136th).

As for Shadow Creek, their victory bumped their record up to 4-2. Considering they have won three contests by more than 22 points this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Tavis Coleman continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 219 yards and four TDs. His passing game has become a key predictor of Shadow Creek's success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 1-2 otherwise.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Dobie will challenge rival Pearland at 7:00 p.m. on the 10th. Meanwhile, Shadow Creek is set to face off against their familiar foe Pasadena Memorial at 7:00 p.m. on the 10th.
