Softball Recap: Hanna Comes Up Short

Hanna extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping them down to 7-18. They fell 16-12 to the Los Fresnos Falcons. The Golden Eagles were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Falcons earlier this season, when they won 16-2.

Samantha Aldape spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and 12 unearned) runs on eight hits.

At the plate, Karah Hernandez led a balanced group of hitters, going 4-for-5 with one run, one double, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Annett Lopez, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

As for Los Fresnos, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-22-1. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for their hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

On Los Fresnos' side, Harmony Moore was incredible, going 3-for-5 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits Moore has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Romi Arriaga, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.

While Hanna had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
