Rio Rico will face off against Tanque Verde at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Rio Rico comes in on three and Tanque Verde on seven.
Rio Rico is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They never let Amphitheater get on the board and left with a 25-0 victory on Wednesday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Hawks with their most commanding win of the season.
Kenia Navarro made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Those seven strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Ayleen Salcido was a standout: she scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Those two runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mariana Santamaria, who scored three runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
Rio Rico was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Tanque Verde got the win against Pusch Ridge Christian Academy on Thursday by a conclusive 7-0. Considering the Hawks have won 12 contests by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Pusch Ridge Christian Academy's batters probably weren't too happy with Claire Achilles, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 17 Ks (she gave up a single walk). Achilles has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in 13 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Sara Hoagland was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Haggard, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
Tanque Verde pushed their record up to 17-4 with the win, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.5 runs over those games. As for Rio Rico, their win bumped their record up to 3-9.
