Basketball Game Preview: South Rowan Raiders vs. Northwest Cabarrus Trojans

South Rowan hasn't had much luck against Northwest Cabarrus recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The South Rowan Raiders will venture away from home to face off against the Northwest Cabarrus Trojans at 7:30 p.m.

South Rowan is headed into Tuesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Friday. They were dealt a 77-45 loss at the hands of Concord. The Raiders were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-16.

Meanwhile, Northwest Cabarrus blew past East Rowan, posting a 68-25 victory. Given the Trojans' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 201st, while the Mustangs are ranked 605th), the result on Thursday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Northwest Cabarrus pushed their record up to 11-6 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.4 points per game. As for South Rowan, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-17.

South Rowan might still be hurting after the 69-49 loss they got from Northwest Cabarrus when the teams last played back in December of 2024. Can South Rowan avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
