Basketball Game Preview: Southern Trojans vs. Fairdale Bulldogs

The Southern Trojans will head out on the road to take on the Fairdale Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Southern is headed into Friday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Tuesday. They took a hard 74-60 fall against Moore.

Meanwhile, Fairdale hadn't done well against Fern Creek recently (they were 1-6 in their previous seven matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. Fairdale blew past Fern Creek 78-46. The Bulldogs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 contests by 24 points or more this season.

Fairdale has also been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 82.4 points per game. As for Southern, their loss dropped their record down to 7-13.

Southern suffered a grim 79-53 defeat to Fairdale in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Can Southern avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
