Basketball Recap: Purvis Takes a Loss

Purvis was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 60-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Perry Central Bulldogs.

When it comes to explaining why Purvis lost, don't look at Judd Gipson. Despite the final result, he went 9 of 20 on his way to 24 points. Those 24 points gave Gipson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeremiah Daniels, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 11 points and seven rebounds.

It was another big night for Austin Jones, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds for Perry Central. Another player making a difference was Trace Hinton, who went 5 of 7 on his way to 14 points and five rebounds.

Purvis' defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Perry Central, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-7.

Purvis won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Seminary at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Perry Central, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Vancleave at 7:30 p.m.
