Baseball Recap: Clearfield's Loss Ends Six-Game Winning Streak at Home

Clearfield dropped their record down to 12-12 on Monday, which also ended the team's six-game streak of wins at home. They took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Northridge Knights. The Falcons were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Knights apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

As for Northridge, their record now sits at 15-9. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since May 8, 2024, but that streak is no more.

For Northridge's part, Kam Shirreffs was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Those nine strikeouts gave Shirreffs a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Northridge's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 10-3 (and 5-6 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Isaac Anderson was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run. Trevin Redd was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

While Clearfield had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
