Softball Recap: Mt. Vernon's Losing Streak Snapped at Three Games

After low-scoring totals in their previous three game, Mt. Vernon brought some dynamite into their most recent matchup. They never let the Southwest Trojans get on the board and left with a 10-0 win on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Mountaineers, who have now won 22 contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Cheyenne Bieber, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddie Schubert, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Mt. Vernon hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Southwest struck out seven times.

With the victory, Mt. Vernon broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 27-10. As for Southwest, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-12 record this season.

As of now, neither Mt. Vernon nor Southwest have any future games scheduled.
