Baseball Game Preview: Haleyville Lions vs. Hokes Bluff Eagles

For the second straight game, Haleyville will face off against Hokes Bluff. The Lions will look to defend their home field on Saturday against the Eagles at 1:00 p.m. Haleyville is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.

Haleyville is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They came out on top against Hokes Bluff by a score of 8-4.

Cooper McNutt made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off ten hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. What's more, he posted two doubles, the most he's had since back in March.

In other batting news, Brody Armstrong was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Evan Cagle, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

Haleyville has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 20 of their last 22 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Hokes Bluff, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 17-13.
