Baseball Game Preview: Placer Hillmen vs. River Valley Falcons

For the second straight game, Placer will face off against River Valley. The Hillmen will welcome the Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Placer's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so River Valley's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

On Wednesday, Placer got the win against River Valley by a conclusive 10-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Hillmen.

Dolen Gendron and Garrett Brink were major factors while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Gendron pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Brink struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits (and not a single walk). Gendron is becoming a predictor of Placer's success: when he allows at most one hit the team is 6-2 (and 9-10 when he doesn't). At bat, Gendron went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI, while Brink went a perfect 5-for-5 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Those five hits gave Brink a new career-high.

In other batting news, Robby Silski was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Jack Addison, who went 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Placer's win bumped their record up to 15-12. As for River Valley, they are on a 22-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-24.
