Volleyball Recap: The Academy Comes Up Short

The Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Horizon Hawks. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Hawks apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Lauren Harris paced The Academy's offense, picking up eight kills. Harris got some help from Olivia Luxner and her 15 assists. Jaelyn Farmer and Ava Gallegos kept things locked in from the service line: the pair finished with three aces apiece.

The Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Horizon, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season.

The Academy has already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against Riverdale Ridge on the 4th. As for Horizon, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 loss against Resurrection Christian on the 4th.
