Softball Game Preview: Anderson Cubs vs. Durham Trojans

The Anderson Cubs are taking a road trip to take on the Durham Trojans at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Anderson has given up an average of 16.9 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Anderson is headed into Tuesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Saturday. They lost 21-2 to West Valley.

Isabel Sturges was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 1-for-1.

Meanwhile, Durham hadn't done well against Paradise recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. Durham's pitcher stepped up to hand Paradise a 4-0 shutout.

The result came thanks to Sadie Sjolund's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Annalee Horn and Maggie Sjolund did most of the damage at the plate: Horn scored a run while going 2-for-3, while Maggie went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI Sjolund has posted since back in February.

Durham's victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 8-5-1. As for Anderson, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-7.

Anderson might still be hurting after the 17-1 loss they got from Durham when the teams last played back in March. Can Anderson avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
