Softball Recap: Parkers Prairie Comes Up Short

After flying high against Pillager on Tuesday, Parkers Prairie came back down to earth. The Panthers fell just short of the New York Mills Eagles by a score of 9-8 on Thursday. The Panthers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Eagles earlier this season, when they won 9-5.

Elora Wagner and Anya Wagner did some serious damage despite the final result: Elora went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs, while Anya went 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Anya has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Anna Helling, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with four stolen bases and three runs.

Parkers Prairie moved to 7-4 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for New York Mills, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.

Coincidentally, Parkers Prairie and New York Mills will both be playing Browerville the next time they take the field. The Panthers will host the Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, while the Eagles will head out to face them at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
