Basketball Recap: Gordo Takes a Loss

Gordo suffered their closest defeat since December 12, 2023 on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Winfield Pirates by a score of 50-47. The loss continues a trend for the Green Wave in their matchups with the Pirates: they've now lost six in a row.

It was another big night for Slate Gilbert, who went 10 of 22 en route to 27 points for Winfield. Gilbert's evening made it seven games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Miles Miles, who went 6 for 8 on his way to 12 points and five rebounds.

Gordo now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Winfield, their victory bumped their record up to 5-2.

Gordo will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against Carbon Hill at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Winfield, they will head out to square off against Lamar County at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
