Softball Recap: Sylmar Spartans vs. North Hollywood Huskies
While Sylmar's victory against North Hollywood wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Spartans sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 10-9 win over the Huskies on Wednesday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Spartans also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2019.
Katherine Godoy was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. Another player making a difference was Lizelle Gonzalez, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one triple.
They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Sylmar lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post two or more home runs.
Sylmar has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games. As for North Hollywood, with the defeat, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 5-3.
