With a playoff game on the line, Mountain View Prep rose to the challenge on Friday. They took down the Crescent Tigers 30-14. The victory was just business as usual for the Stars, who after 12 games remain undefeated this season.

Jaylen McGill was his usual excellent self, rushing for 177 yards and three touchdowns. He has been hot , having posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last seven times he's played.

Mountain View Prep was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 288 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Crescent only rushed for 110.

Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 12 points in total. All those points came courtesy of Henry Phillips: he added nine points with three field goals, and another three kicking extra points.

When it comes to explaining why Crescent lost, don't look at Darius Latimer. Despite the final result, he rushed for 118 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.4 yards per carry, and also picked up 78 receiving yards. Latimer got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 80 yards.

Mountain View Prep's win bumped their record up to 12-0. As for Crescent, the loss snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 7-5 record.

Mountain View Prep will square off against Belton-Honea Path at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Belton-Honea Path knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 31 points or more in their past nine contests -- so hopefully Mountain View Prep likes a good challenge. Crescent does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
