After losing to Harker Heights the last time they met, Temple decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Wildcats were the clear victors by a 16-4 margin over the Knights on Thursday. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by six runs or more this season.
Brooke Knox was a major factor no matter where she played. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 15 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 4-for-5 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Madyson Combs was a standout: she went 2-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Jordyn Valdez was another key player, going 3-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Temple was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .450. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Harker Heights only posted a batting average of .241.
The win was the fourth in a row for Temple, bringing their record up to 14-9-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games. As for Harker Heights, their defeat dropped their record down to 20-10.
As of now, neither Temple nor the Knights have any future games scheduled.
