Softball Recap: Notre Dame Academy Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Notre Dame Academy had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 19-run drubbing they dealt Green Bay Southwest on Tuesday. The Tritons put the hurt on the Fighting Trojans with a sharp 20-1 victory. Considering the Tritons have won three matchups by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Ella Nowak was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.

In other batting news, Olivia Waldrop was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and one stolen base. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Maisie Hinz, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.

Notre Dame Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in May of 2024.

The win (which was Notre Dame Academy's third in a row) raised their record to 4-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Green Bay Southwest, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.
