Basketball Game Preview: McDowell Titans vs. Erwin Warriors

McDowell is on a nine-game streak of home wins, while Erwin is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. Having just played yesterday, the McDowell Titans will get right back to it and host the Erwin Warriors at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in McDowell's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last ten matches.

McDowell is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Enka: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that McDowell blew Enka out of the water with an 82-40 final score. The Titans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 24 points or more this season.

McDowell's win on Thursday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Rylan Parkins, who posted 17 points. Parkins' evening made it eight games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Kyson Rinnert was another key player, putting up 16 points.

Meanwhile, after some red-hot attacks on offense in their last four matches, Erwin finally came back down to earth on Wednesday. They took a blow against A.C. Reynolds, falling 68-26. The contest marked the Warriors' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

McDowell will need focus on slowing down Max Titley, one of several Erwin players who made an impact when they last played. He scored seven points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Davis, who had four points and five steals.

McDowell's win bumped their record up to 14-1. As for Erwin, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-8.

Everything came up roses for McDowell against Erwin in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, as the squad secured a 94-56 victory. Does McDowell have another victory up their sleeve, or will Erwin turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
