John Carroll faced Fallston in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. John Carroll blew past Fallston 12-4. Winning may never get old, but the Patriots sure are getting used to it with their sixth in a row.

Jack Hudson looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Casey Carpenter, who went 2-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. He is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as he's now launched at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Drew Jourdan was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

John Carroll's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-2-1. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for Fallston, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. John Carroll will challenge Towson at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (John Carroll 3.8, Towson 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Fallston, they will venture away from home to face off against Joppatowne at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Joppatowne has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.75 runs per game on average), something Fallston will no doubt try to take advantage of.
