Soccer Game Preview: Donna vs. Harlingen South

The Donna Redskins are taking a road trip to face off against the Harlingen South Hawks at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Harlingen South took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Donna, who comes in off a win.

Donna took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over Weslaco East.

Meanwhile, after a string of five wins, Harlingen South's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell 3-1 to Lopez. While losing is never fun, the Hawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 77th, while the Lobos are ranked eighth).

Donna's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-6. As for Harlingen South, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 7-2-1.

Donna beat Harlingen South by a goal when the teams last played back in March of 2024, winning 1-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Donna since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
