Basketball Recap: Prairie View Falls to Fairview in First Game of Season

Prairie View unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They lost 68-46 to the Fairview Knights on Tuesday. The Thunderhawks' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it 15 in a row dating back to last season.

Prairie View's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Javon Brewton, who posted 16 points and six rebounds, and Kehinde Ojowa, who went 6 of 7 on his way to 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Chidiebere Akotaobi, who put up six points and eight rebounds.

Fairview was led to victory by Spencer Brown and Trevor Ochs. Brown went 8 of 17 on his way to 20 points and five assists, while Ochs went 6 of 14 on his way to 14 points in addition to six assists and three steals. Brown's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Sawyer Dever, who had nine points and five rebounds.

Prairie View didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 55-39 win against Fort Collins on the 4th. As for Fairview, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 67-34 victory against Gateway on the 9th.
