Preview: Palisades Pumas vs. West Cabarrus Wolverines
Palisades has enjoyed the comforts of home their last four games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge the West Cabarrus Wolverines at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Palisades focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Tuesday.
Winning is just a little bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 26 to 12 on the offensive boards, a fact Palisades proved. They walked away with a 52-43 win over Olympic. Given Palisades' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 136th, while Olympic is ranked 361st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Brian Ngo had an outrageously good game as he scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. It was the first time this season that he scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kingston Henry, who scored eight points.
Meanwhile, even though Mooresville scored an imposing 59 points on Friday, West Cabarrus still came out on top. West Cabarrus skirted past Mooresville 61-59.
Palisades' record is now 13-9. As for West Cabarrus, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-12.
Palisades came up short against West Cabarrus in their previous meeting back in November of 2022, falling 64-57. Thankfully for Palisades, Trey Minard III (who scored 18 points) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
