Game recap: Honesdale High School Football Team takes down Lakeland

Honesdale (Pa.) upset Lakeland (Jermyn, Pa.) 47-21 after a solid game from Kyle Carney, who rushed for five touchdowns. Thanks to the stand out performance the senior now has 13 touchdowns on the season.

The Hornets led 21-14 at halftime, but the Chiefs regained the lead on a touchdown with 7:00 to go in the third. Honesdale finally took the lead for good when Carney ran for a touchdown with 1:00 remaining in the third quarter.

Both teams scored seven points in the third quarter, so the margin remained at seven at the start of the fourth.

HHS locked in the win by scoring 19 points in the fourth quarter to push the final margin to 26.

Honesdale (3-5) will play a Lackawanna 2 game against Western Wayne next week, while Lakeland (3-5) will take on Riverside also in a Lackawanna 2 game.
