Baseball Recap: Prairie Central's Win Ends Nine-Game Losing Streak on the Road

Prairie Central took a nine-run defeat the last time they faced off against El Paso-Gridley, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Prairie Central's pitcher stepped up to hand El Paso-Gridley a 2-0 shutout on Thursday. For the Hawks, this counts as revenge for the 15-6 victory the Titans walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2024.

The result came thanks to Collin Hartman's shutout, as he gave up just four hits and racked up ten Ks. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Prairie Central is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 0-3 otherwise.

At the plate, Prairie Central saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Will Skala, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Prairie Central's win ended a nine-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-4. As for El Paso-Gridley, their record is now 1-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Prairie Central will challenge Lexington at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for El Paso-Gridley, they will take on Reed-Custer at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
