Baseball Game Preview: Concord Bears vs. Berean Christian Eagles

Concord hasn't had much luck against Berean Christian recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Bears will head out on the road to challenge the Eagles at 4:30 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Concord's tournament run continued when they took on Justin-Siena on Tuesday. The Bears took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Braves.

Concord got a good showing from Hunter Wasserman, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Wasserman has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.

Meanwhile, Berean Christian also suffered a loss in their last game, falling to San Marin by a score of 9-4.

Nick Kullman was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Frank Alioto was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs.

Concord's defeat dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Berean Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 4-8.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Concord has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Berean Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 6.7 strikeouts.
