Baseball Game Preview: Smith-Cotton Tigers vs. Blue Springs Wildcats

The Smith-Cotton Tigers will challenge the Blue Springs Wildcats at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Smith-Cotton will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.

Smith-Cotton barely beat Camdenton the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Tigers' pitcher stepped up to hand the Lakers a 6-0 shutout on Tuesday. The Tigers not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 15th (when they won 14-6).

Camdenton's batters probably weren't too happy with Jakobe Linn, who pitched a no hitter and racked up eight Ks (he gave up five walks). Linn also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Smith-Cotton is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 11-12 otherwise.

At the plate, Talon Newell was excellent, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Kendall Hagedorn was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 14 runs the game before, Blue Springs was a bit more limited in their contest on Wednesday. They took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Raymore-Peculiar.

Smith-Cotton now has a winning record of 14-13. As for Blue Springs, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-14-1 record this season.
