Baseball Recap: Woodrow Wilson's Victory on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Woodrow Wilson entered their tilt with Oak Hill on Monday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They came out on top against the Red Devils by a score of 10-5. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 7-6 last Tuesday.

Tyler Wilhite made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off nine hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brady Williams, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Maddex Sims was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Woodrow Wilson's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-8. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games. As for Oak Hill, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-14 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Woodrow Wilson will head out to take on Greenbrier East at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Oak Hill, they will venture away from home to challenge Shady Spring at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
