Basketball Recap: Northside Christian Academy Takes a Loss

Northside Christian Academy has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were beaten by the Augusta Christian Lions 104-73 on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Crusaders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 75th in South Carolina, while the Lions are ranked 17th in Georgia).

Northside Christian Academy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dalton Gadson, who went 8 of 20 on his way to 20 points. With that strong performance, Gadson is now averaging an impressive 15.2 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Hilton Dessausure, who went 7 of 16 on his way to 18 points.

Even though they lost, Northside Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Northside Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 10-3. As for Augusta Christian, the victory (which was their 12th in a row) raised their record to 15-2.

Northside Christian Academy will head out to face off against Heathwood Hall Episcopal at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Augusta Christian, they will venture away from home to challenge Ben Lippen at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Ben Lippen has won seven straight at home, while Augusta Christian won ten straight on the road dating back to last season), something that'll have to change.
