Preview: Smithville Seminoles vs. Tremont Eagles
Smithville has been on the road for four straight, but on Thursday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Tremont Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Smithville will be strutting in after a victory while the Eagles will be coming in after a loss.
Last Tuesday, Smithville made easy work of the Wildcats and carried off a 48-26 win. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as Smithville just coasted through the last quarter.
Meanwhile, Tremont came up short against the Eagles on Tuesday and fell 36-29. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Tremont in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now lost nine in a row.
Smithville is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 9-16 record this season. As for Tremont, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-13 record this season.
Smithville lost to the Eagles at home by a decisive 39-22 margin in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Tremont's Saige Black, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
