Basketball Recap: Independence Takes a Loss

Independence was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 53-50 heartbreaker at the hands of the Sachse Mustangs. The Knights were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Mustangs earlier this season, when they won 50-42.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Sachse to victory, but perhaps none more so than Maddox Belino, who posted 11 points and eight rebounds. Those eight boards gave Belino a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Austin Young, who went 6 of 11 on his way to 17 points.

Independence's defeat dropped their record down to 9-11. As for Sachse, their victory bumped their record up to 8-12.

Independence has already played their next contest, a 95-23 win against Corsicana on the 28th. As for Sachse, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 53-39 loss against Plano on the 27th.
