The Temple Wildcats will head out on the road to square off against the Harker Heights Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Temple is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games.
On Tuesday, Temple was able to grind out a solid win over Copperas Cove, taking the game 6-3.
Brooke Knox spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 14 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Madyson Combs was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2. Another player making a difference was Jordyn Valdez, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Harker Heights narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Shoemaker 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Knights have posted against the Wolves since April 13, 2021.
The team relied heavily on Brianna Warriner, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of MacKenzie Uschan, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI and one double.
Temple's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-9-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Harker Heights, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-9 record this season.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Temple hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .341. However, it's not like Harker Heights struggles in that department as they've averaged .317. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
