Baseball Recap: Oratory Prep Sets Scoring Season-High Against Dayton

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Oratory Prep). Everything went their way against the Dayton Bulldogs on Monday as they made off with a 15-6 victory. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent win being a 4-3 victory on Saturday.

Oratory Prep got a massive performance out of Devon Mulvaney, who went 3-for-4 with four runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those four runs gave Mulvaney a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ben Gaffney, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

Oratory Prep was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Oratory Prep is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 14 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for Dayton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-10.

Coincidentally, Oratory Prep and Dayton will both be playing Union the next time they take the field. The Bulldogs will host the Farmers at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Rams will head out to face them at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
