Basketball Recap: KIPP University Prep Piles Up the Points Against New Life Christian

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only KIPP University Prep walked away with it. They really took it to the New Life Christian Eagles for the full four quarters, racking up a 70-39 win. KIPP University Prep has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 31 points or more this season.

It was another big night for Sergio Murillo, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 17 boards. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 8.5 rebounds per game. Another player making a difference was A'Amir Caston-Welch, who went 7 for 10 en route to 14 points and eight boards.

The victory was the fourth in a row for KIPP University Prep, bringing their record for this year to 11-6.

KIPP University Prep will look to defend their home court on February 5th against San Antonio S.T.E.A.M. Academy at 6:00 p.m. San Antonio S.T.E.A.M. Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 17 matchups -- so hopefully KIPP University Prep likes a good challenge. New Life Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
