Basketball Recap: 24 Straight Home Victories for Alexander

With a playoff win on the line, Alexander rose to the challenge on Saturday. They skirted past the Houston County Bears 61-58. The victory was nothing new for the Cougars as they're now sitting on 11 straight.

Gregory Dunson was his usual excellent self, going 7-for-8 from beyond the arc en route to 31 points along with eight assists and five rebounds. He continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Marquise Leslie was another key player, going 5-for-11 on his way to 11 points and five boards.

Houston County lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Josh Jackson, who went 5-for-12 to rack up 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Braylin Mills, who almost dropped a double-double with 12 points and nine rebounds.

Alexander pushed their record up to 22-7 with the win, which was their 24th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.9 points over those games. As for Houston County, their loss dropped their record down to 22-7.

Alexander wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 69-67 defeat against Langston Hughes on the 26th. Houston County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
