Granite City extended their winning streak to four on Tuesday, bumping their season record up to 5-9 in the process. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Springfield Senators. This was payback for the Warriors, who suffered an 8-6 loss the last time these two teams met.

Connor Schaefer spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits.

As for Springfield, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season. That's two games in a row now that they have lost by just one run.

On Springfield's side, they saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brody Scheffler, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

Granite City and Springfield could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. The Warriors will square off against Belleville West at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday with a big rank disadvantage (231 vs. 83). Meanwhile, Springfield (ranked 320th) will meet Sacred Heart-Griffin (ranked 39th) at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
