Basketball Recap: Hoover Takes a Loss

Hoover is still winless after their game against Bonita Vista on Friday, but the team can take solace in the fact it was the closest they've come to winning. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 63-61 heartbreaker at the hands of the Bonita Vista Barons. While losing is never fun, the Cardinals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 713th, while the Barons are ranked 351st).

Aaron Owens was his usual excellent self, going 7 of 14 en route to 20 points along with five assists and three steals for Bonita Vista. The match was Owens' fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaiah Diaz, who posted eight points.

Hoover's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Bonita Vista, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-4.

Hoover wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 71-50 defeat against Madison on the 16th. As for Bonita Vista, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 59-46 loss against Mission Bay on the 14th.
