Soccer Game Preview: Mechanicsburg vs. State College

The Mechanicsburg Wildcats will challenge the State College Little Lions at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Mechanicsburg is headed into Thursday's matchup hungry for a win as their strong season has now been derailed by two straight defeats. They were a single goal away from ending the streak, but they lost a 1-0 heartbreaker at the hands of Dallastown. The contest was a 0-0 toss-up at halftime, but Mechanicsburg couldn't quite close it out.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for State College, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out Altoona 4-3 on Monday. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for State College considering their one-goal performance the match before.

State College's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-5-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 12 goals over those three matchups. As for Mechanicsburg, their loss dropped their record down to 9-4-2.
