Baseball Recap: Weed's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Redding Christian, Weed was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They came out on top against the Mt. Shasta Bears by a score of 4-1. For the Cougars, this counts as revenge for the 14-2 win the Bears walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Jett Marshall made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-3. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Braeden Cordes, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.

The victory snapped Weed's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 6-3 record. As for Mt. Shasta, they dropped their record down to 4-6 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Bears beat Weed by a score of 12-4 later that day.
